Volume 178, Issue 4

Glioblastoma is an incurable and poorly understood brain tumor. In this issue, Neftel et al. (835–849) use an integrative single-cell genomics approach to understand glioblastoma transcriptional and genetic heterogeneity, finding that glioblastoma cells partition between a limited number of cellular states whose prevalence differs between individual tumors and is associated with specific genetic alterations. The cover artwork represents brain tumor heterogeneity and is an original 12×12-inch physical piece representing a human brain with a glioblastoma tumor in the subcortical white matter.
